Help - looking for WS6...
Discussion
Well pretty much as it says in the title ;-) I'm looking for a 1998-2002 WS6 transam trying all the usual places (POC, eBay, autotrader as well as classic American and American car world) just wondering where else to look?
I guess one of the difficulties is I'm a fussy git & said machine MUST be an auto and I don't want black also people's ideas of how much things are worth are quite frankly frequently laughable. Other than that I'm open to ideas though I suspect the best one is to visit all the car shows I can (now THAT'S a hardship lmao)

Yep, they're not too common and I think will be quite a sort after car, (last of the real Trans Am)
You've got all the bases covered, I think you just have to sit around an twiddle your thumbs for a bit. I do remember seeing a few come up last year. Again, prices are probably going to be on the unreasonable side because its a rare beast over here and to the right person will be quite sort after.

budget-wise I'm quite flexible... I know that there's a Yellow '02 Anniversary model (8500miles) for sale for £17k which is too rich for my blood (though I'd seriously consider a straight swap on the Bee) and I've seen a low miles black '98 (36000 miles) for £7k so I'd say prefer (a LOT) nearer 7 than 17 but let's see (I've also seen a lovely '99 SS for sale but I've already had one of those so not too sure)

They are getting a lot harder to find. Not sure where they've all gone though they were under-appreciated and a performance bargain. Bear in mind that if tuning, the '98 computer is different and you can't get tuners for them.
truth be told I'm not overly worried about further performance tuning (60 in low 5s and 160 is plenty for me) I would prefer newer for purely practical reasons; (potentially) less miles, improvements implemented etc.I'm in no real hurry when the right one turns up hopefully I'll see it/hear about it in time

yeah I saw that £20k too much for me (and a manual)... got to admit that this bit"The car has only ever had one garage service due to its millage and that was conducted by Wrench's garage in Angmering who are an American car specialist near where I live. The previous owner has himself changed the oil every 2000 miles and I had also done this when the car was on 9000. it has since been done again by Wrenches in March 2012 with a full service, and even though it didn't need it I had the full set of plugs replaced at a cost of £160.00"
would concern me a little since IIRC the servicing also looks at perishable items (rubber gone brittle due to age etc) as well as other bits and bobs
This is nearly there, maybe a little toppy for the mileage but very nice - only problem is it's a manual

Pretty sure I saw a yellow Collectors Edition WS6 out side AC in Shepherds Bush a couple of weeks ago.. No idea if it was for sale..
There is one for sale for £17k (pontiac o/c) which looks amazing <9k miles and is likely a fairly good bet for a depreciation free vehicle (though possibly not in the UK given the general populous' s thirst for a diseasal snot-box) again though just a little too rich for me atm (not to say it isn't worth it though!!).... hmmm maybe he wants a Rumblebee in exchange!!Escalade said:
There is a convertible WS6 on gumtree that I was thinking of taking a look at myself. It's a convertible and auto, best of both worlds! They really are a rare beast!
ah yes - I should have mentioned I'm not into 'verts either told you I was a fussy sod!!! Many thanks for the heads-up though, appreciated!

man that IS nice... however swmbo has put the brakes on any f-body too. Having had a few sits in my mate's WS she's also now decided she's not a big fan of the 'bible' in the passenger foot-well Leaves me with 2 options (S197 mustang or Lightning) once my truck has sold
Unless auto's a real show stopper there's one on your doorstep @ £9,750 ono

were I still allowed (swmbo say no ) to go for a WS6 I'd still not look at the above - auto tranny is a 100% must. Thanks though ;0http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

Now I like that a lot. For some reason I tend to prefer the look of Camaros, but that WS6 is very nice. I miss my 2001 Camaro and if I was on the lookout for a replacement now I'd definitely consider it. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

Actually you can, its just the ECU has limited functionality. EFILive fully supports it.Gassing Station | Yank Motors | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
