I'll be removing the '73 Camaro V8, (5.7/350ci) from my truck next week, It'll basically be a long block with inlet manifold, water pump, harmonic balancer and pulleys, everything else will be swapped over to my new engine. The engine runs, has good oil pressure, (50-60 psi when stone cold and 25-35psi hot at idle) Only reason I'm replacing it is because I would have been happier having it rebuilt for peace of mind, but a brand new crate engine isn't much more expensive so have decided to go down that route. There was a slight knocking noise coming from it if you held it at 2000 rpm when hot, but, the ignition timing was out a bit and the carb was way over-specced for the engine, (Edelbrock 750 cfm)so could be over-fuelling and/or pre-ignition causing it.

How much should I ask as selling it for rebuild? I've seen some on ebay for around £300-£500 but have no idea it's true value.

Around £400-£450 I'd say.

Would be good to drop the pan and check if it's 2 or 4-bolt mains as there is a perception among some that a 4-bolt is the only choice. If you've got a 4-bolt, you might be able to get a touch more.

Spot on, cheers, I'll check the engine number again but I'm sure it's a 2 bolt main engine.
