Well it's coming up for renewal time again folks, my favourite time of year! frown

Has anyone got any experience of Frank Pickles? I've been with A-plan for a few years now and last year paid circa £580. Frank Pickles have quoted me £358 which seems pretty good (compared to what I have been paying). The only thing that puts me off is that I submitted an online quote and waited three days for a response, and rather than getting a phone call or an email I got a text message with the quote. As far as first impressions are concerned I can't say I'm terribly impressed by that.

Try Classicline. Honestly can't fault them, also the only company who were willing to insure me apart from rubbish Flux, Classicline managed to half their quote and add in some extras for free!

Hi
I have a truck and vette with f/pickles,found them to be the cheapest FOR ME biggrin. It does depend on your own personal details eh.
Dont think i waited long to get the text message, bottom line mate i just get it the cheapest i can.

One prob i have at the mo is swapping number plates from the truck to the vette, admin charge of £30 to update the info on the vette, and i assume another £30
to update the info on the truck, yeah its extra work for them, but not £60 worth surely .

Truck insurance expires on the 12th so will try and tie the plate change in with the renewal, will be phoning round though ,like you have to.
Good luck mate.biggrin

Thanks guys.

I will try classicline and see what they can do. I need to phone A-plan first and see what my renewal price is first but I can't see it being as cheap as the quote from Frank Pickles.

Hmmmm a £30 admin charge, pretty steep! Is that when you make any change to the policy or just because it's related to the car's registration? A-plan never charged me for admin fees even though I've changed addresses and had the car taken on and off 'laid up' cover.

Yeah the only thing i have changed in the past are number plates, think i did that with mce few years back, that was £17 odd.So i think they all do it,not sure if they would charge for other things like address change etc.

Got another car with aviva,if you need to make changes like this you just get online go to my policy
make the changes, and print up new docs,no charge.I have mentioned on here before that aviva dont do insurance for imports, but was informed they do ,think the car had to be an offical ,euro spec car though, they really are cheap as chips.

The renewal i got the other day for my truck was £257,not bad i suppose, but if they add £30 for the paperwork change making it £287 then i reckon i can get it for less some place else, kinda out of principle.
Cheers bud

Thanks again, will definitely give Classicline a buzz and see how they stack up against A-plan and Frank Pickles.

Was going to ring A plan today but left my documents at home irked

You really got to shop around though. I decided to waste about 3 hours ringing loads of them running through the same mind numbing questions every time actually making me feel very sorry for the people on the other end of the phones if this is what they do all day every day.

Lowest quotes were between Adrian flux Quoting me £236 and classic line quoting me £255 and I said to them please just match their quote as I'd rather go with you as AF had shafted me in the past. Classicline wouldn't budge. A few of them said they'd call me back with quote and didn't bother! Maybe il put the list of who quoted what later for reference.

Double check the details from Adrian Flux Vs. Classicline. I found they were the only two who would quote me, then it turned out Classicline were not only cheaper, but offering a fully comp policy vs AF with their Third Party one.

Add to that, both policies were underwritten by Equity Red Star.

Both main details identical I.e. fully comp, same miles, breakdown cover, European cover & same excess. It could be that there was some extra frill like key protection or somethin. The person would have been able to say they could match if we get rid unless their brain was fried after running through the same routine for the 30th time that day and just didn't care.
