Hi all, ive not imported a ram for over 3 years & never done an IVA is there much difference between the IVA & the old SVA, with reguarding to a Ram 3500 probably 2006-2008 ?
Last time had to remove spare wheel, bull bars etc to just get under the weight for a 'car'
Cheers Andy

There's no SVA anymore as you're aware.

If the truck has a GVW under 3,500kg it gets tested as class N1 commercial vehicle. The same as the old SVA.

If the GVW is in excess of 3500kg but below 6500kg it gets tested as class M1 passenger car. The pick up bed must be no more than 40% of the overall length to get it through the test. As a passenger car it can't be used for any form of hire or reward.

cheers Roo, was hoping for you to reply !

The under 3500 kg commercial test used to be alot easier to pass than the car test is this still the same ? ie headlights were not included

The only difference between SVA and IVA is that they now have to be lighting compliant. Everything else is the same.

The headlights aren't a problem. Sometimes they need winding down a bit but that's all.

Hi, I hope that someone can help me out. Im looking to purchase a 2004 Dodge Ram. The ram in question had been imported from the US to Belgium, now the owner has returned to the UK and the car is currently in the UK. If I was to go through with the sale I would need to register the ram for the uk. Can anyone see any issues, and if so how do I go about rectifying them?
Thanks
Andy

If it's never been registered in the UK it needs to go through the normal IVA procedure.

What do you mean by what class?
Do you mean M1 passenger car or N1 commercial test? If so a Ram 1500 with a GVW below 3500kg could be tested as either.
