Always liked the look of the GM pickups. But they are rare as hens teeth over here. Our offerings are limited to the Ram and F150.

One thing I've noticed is how Ram pickups seem to be the majority in the UK, while here its Fords.

And you can guarantee that you just saw the face and dashboard of the new Suburban/Yukon/Tahoe/Denali/Escalade. Those should be new for 2014 model year as well.

Don't you know you're not allowed to like US trucks on PH? Less well informed PH'ers will explode.

Not bad, certainly long overdue. Would love another Duramax to play with when I've got the Raptor out of my system.

They look good. Only a mild exterior update, but the old one looked good anyway.

The only criticism is the light control panel to the left of the steering column looks a bit empty and bland.

Yes, I've always thought that too....we seem to be pretty Mopar obsessed over here - in respect to both classics and modern US automobiles. Whilst over in California in May I'd say I saw mainly Ford and Chevy trucks, with a lot of Toyotas too. There were still plenty of Rams, but just didn't see them as frequently as the others. It seemed like every other truck I saw was an F150.

Asking which one is "better" is kind of like asking who's the best looking girl or who's the best rock band. Ford dominates the sales charts, but GM does better overall when you combine GMC and Chevrolet. Ram is in a rather distant third.

Last year, IIRC, Ford sold about 350k F150s, Chevrolet did about 330k Silverados, Ram did about 150k 1500s and GMC did a bit over 100k 1500s.

As CaptCad wrote, the numbers don't lie. GM crushes Ford and Dodge. Dodge pack their trucks with features, price them lower than the others, and they still don't sell.

I live in the Northeast and it is mostly GM. Ford is big in the South. One reason is GM's hold up better, longer to road salt. A five year old Dodge is bubbled up over the rear tire. With the exception of the Raptor, Ford styling has gone a bit bland.

It would be nice if we could get some GM stuff here. We only have
Ford and Dodge on offer.

I like the late model GM stuff but people from here go to the US on holiday and come back wanting a Ram or F150.

The fact that you can get factory discount here on Rams helps as it makes them a lot cheaper than the other two.

In recent years the HD trucks from GM (denali excepted, perhaps) have felt a bit more like a contractor's truck inside than the Rams and Fords. The new one looks like a big improvement on my old Silverado inside. Not that it was bad or anything, it just wasn't *quite* up to the competition. Comfortable and well equipped, but not fitted or finished to quite the same standard.

Agree on that vacant spot to the left of the wheel though, bit of an oversight there - could have at least stuck some aux switches in or something. Piece of cake to recreate in carbon and rearrange the switchgear layout, free up some space and do something useful with it though. scratchchin

Can someone explain why the Ram comprehensivly well equiped and on the 1500 with ride levels superior to the competition that it still sells in low numbers in the U.S? I remember speaking to Roo some time ago on his thoughts on the Ram against the Ford. And in his words in terms of ride quality. The Ram was way ahead of the Ford. Even looking at the 2013 Ram interior. It looks a better place to be than the opposition.

Dodge spent a good few years in mediocrity before they got their act together - the late 70's through to the early 90's wasn't their finest hour. More recently, they spent quite a while without a bona fide crewcab in their lineup, and their release cycles were horrible - like bringing a new 1500 out but not updating the HD models for another year. Marketing I suspect has a role to play too...

Then there's the dyed-in-the-wool fandom - Ford guys buy fords, chevy guys buy chevy. Even if it's an inferior product. My OH's dad is a Ford guy, had nothing but problems with his last two, saw my F250 lunch it's engine, and still wouldn't buy anything else. hehe

The newer Rams are pretty nice. Raptor aside, I'd probably choose one if I wanted a half ton truck (I don't, other than my Raptor). For HD trucks, I've always much preferred the GM offerings to the Ram, just feels a better vehicle to me.

I have a 1998 F150 ext cab 4x4, and a 2007 Chevy 2wd regular cab short bed sport truck. I've owned the Ford for 11 years, and the Chevy for 2. Next truck will be a GMC based on the pictures. I retired the Ford from street duty, installed a snowplow, and use it around the property. It's been a fantastic truck.

Dodge? No freggin' way. Poor ride, poor build quality, interior looks like a tractor, and everyone I know with one is having issues. They are nice looking rubbish. Cheap. JMHO They sell poorly here because most people have the same opinion.

Just looked at the sales figures for all three main trucks. And Ford trounces the other two by a long margin. What makes the Ford so great then. Because opinion on here has been divided.
