Hi guys,

Iv noticed that I can get a decent set of second hand wheels for the states for nearly the price of one wheel here. But is it worth it and is shipping dear from USA to UK?

Anyone done this before?

Thanks

Shipping costs can be quite expensive... and you'll probably still have to pay import duties on them... So by the time you'll have them, you may be better off buying them local.

If there from a private seller ask him to send it as a gift and you'll avoid the duty tax ect

For cheap and reliable container shipping, give Ron Fenton at STS Imports a call smile

I've done it and it wasn't that expensive in 2002 but I think it has increased significantly with the strengthening dollar. Most wheel suppliers just want to send it expensive UPS as they collect but US Parcel post is cheaper.

Either way, you may get hit with import duty or even if you don't, you will get hit with the 20% VAT and a handling fee.

Might be better enquiring with North Hants Tyres first.

i thought that 2nd hand/used parts were exempt import duties (if not VAT)?
