Camaro makes more horsepower (430 vs 380) though power delivery and 'feel' is similar.
The Challenger's trunk is bigger and access for luggage easier.
Rental Camaro is 1SS spec, with a mundane auto trans. Challenger also has auto, but is a more useable Auto-Stik. Challenger has (imo) more comfortable seats and a better driving position, with much better visability, but it is also heavier, feels (not is, appreciably) slower, has a slower steering rack and softer undercarriage, so it doesn't track and grip as well, but is more comfortable to cruise around in (what you'll be doing).
Both are pretty grim in the back, from a comfort and visabilty perspective.
If you're headed to FL, don't expect to stand out from the crowd - they're everywhere.
I've driven lots of these cars, lots of miles - but it's all about personal opinion and taste really.
I prefer the looks and character of the Mopar, but the Chevrolet is dynamically the superior car.
If you want the best available (in terms of on-road capability) go for a Mustang 5.0, which outguns them both in all areas where it really matters.

im going to cali , i dont care what others think , its just a treat of a nice car for us , wasnt really that in love with the challneger looks but would have considered it if the drive was way nicer
camaro will have steering wheel gear shift right? and do they all have the interior light up door panels etc

Is this from hertz? I'm surprised the vette and challenger are the same cost. I am a big challenger fan so would go with that. It's more about looks and sound with it though, as its somewhat boat like. Amazing fun though
I rented the challenger in Cali last year and barely saw any others. The number of mustangs is insane though (especially where it's touristy).

You can't get a Corvette for the same money as a Challenger anywhere.
Anywhere but Hertz and Avis, the Challenger is going to be a 3.5l 6cyl - considerably cheaper and a lot more snore-inducing.
99.9% of rental Mustangs are 6 cyl convertibles - not a bad package but a totally different car to the GT which has a 420hp Coyote motor and is smaller and a lot less hefty than either Camaro or Challenger. Even in R/T guise, the Challenger is a fatty at 4100lbs and you notice that on the street.

Get the Vette then!
Use a discount code (e.g. the Amex ones if you have Amex), and Quidco, and it gets it down to £800-£900
It's all personal preference at the end of the day. You're not going to be doing much fast driving in California, so get something you think will be fun.
Personally my order would be: Vette, Challenger, Camaro, Mustang
Sorry, just read your post properly.
The convertible Vette has no luggage space (as you've stated), so ignore that

i dont have amex
I don't know many codes unfortunately, though they seem easy enough to find online, eg. 211762 is Amex Platinum. I dont know how strict they are on checking these codes are used correctly (probably not very!).i dont have amex

seems you can at LAX..maybe its my gold card status lol
Makes zero sense - who in their right mind would choose a Challenger given that choice (even though they are not the same price) - I'm guessing there will be more to pay, somewhere along the line.Edited by steveo3002 on Sunday 9th December 19:30
If not - ditch the Dodge. Even if that means leaving your luggage behind.

Yes, Camaro with AT have the "TapShift" on the steering wheel. They also have to make do with "only" 400bhp Edited by steveo3002 on Sunday 9th December 17:19
And they all have the LED lights in the door.
