Paid for it this afternoon, collected it this evening cloud9
Just made it to the local Texaco as the low fuel light came on, driving it gently all the way home.
Feels good.
OH loves it. Dog loves it (except when I put my foot down and she slides around in the boot).

Bad news: I seem to have driven it home with no tax frown In the dark, I hadn't noticed there was no disc in the windscreen. I never imagined the garage would have let me take it away without tax! I'll be on to them in the morning. In the meantime, I can't tax it until the DVLA receives and processes the V5. frownfrown

Never mind. I've waited this long. The GTO hasn't sold yet so I can wait another couple of days. Time to find my way around the beast, polish it and take some photos.

First job - open fuse box and pull and replace fuse #11 to restore factory trans settings.
The transmission (5G-Tronic NAG1) 'learns' driving style, so if previously driven 'Miss Daisy', it will have less aggressive shift behavior. Pulling fuse 11 restores factory bad-assness.

They should've mentioned it had no tax (have you checked online?) but it's down to you. The dealer isn't even interested if you're insured to drive it. It's of no concern to them whether you're legal to drive or not.

You can tax it using the new keeper supplement.

As we say here in "sandyland" Mabrook on the new purchase. I prefer the older shape to the newer version - much more aggressive looking.

Have to admit I like the old shape, too, but I "needed" something which was at least as fast as the GTO, True PH?
So the 6.1L it had to be.

Tax finally sorted. I won't go into the annoying details. So we're off for a blast up the M3. Pictures will have to wait until tomorrow now. Sick wife and sick dog are taking up the rest of my day. Let's hope neither throw up on the journey.

Not yet. Combination of poor weather, wife to the doctor and dog to the vet, then Tescos for the weekly shop took up the day.
It needs a clean now before I take photos.
I did get to spend some time figuring out all the switches and buttons and the audio but the SatNav DVD won't work; looks like the previous owner updated the firmware by using a later disc so the original one won't work.
Best advice seems to be cough up about £200 for a new disc or give up on it and plug in my TomTom.
Turns out the earlier 2006 models didn't have some of the gizmos that were standard later, like adjustable pedals and park assist.
Sunday looks promising for a wash and polish.

06 nav units probably an rej unit t might sound daft but are you putting the disc in the correct slot there's a small cover to the bottom the display unclip that and there's another slot for the nav disc

The DVD is AD suffix. I think they're on AF now. If the previous owner had bought (and kept) a later one it would, so I read, update the firmware so earlier versions of disc won't work, which is pretty much what the error message is telling me. Even if it did work, maps six or more years old can be a problem. I'll stick with my uptodate TomTom maps. [Unless there's a reliable download source somewhere?]

Just checked out the tyres: Pirelli Scorpion Zero 245/45R20 99W.
Not too wide, not too expensive, I thought.
Wrong.
Over £1800 a set of four yikes

Hope it doesnt need a set just yet...

Looks great in the pictures by the way !!

I almost snagged one today - modded one came up on Ebay - few little cosmetic issues, which i would have wanted to see first, but then someone paid a deposit and is collecting tomorrow without seeing it frown

Nevermind, good things come etc.....

Yep I have the same wheel and tyre set up on my 300c. Anything fitted to the Startech rims is big money. Best quote I had was £1350.

Finally took it out for a proper run today through the Hindhead tunnel. The GTO's turbos smoothed out any exhaust noise but the Jeep's V8 is at least audible over the sunroof wind noise.

Got the average up to 16 mpg (US) = 19.2 mpg (UK) with very mixed driving. That'll do me.

Hopefully have located myself a SRT that i shall be picking up next week - just need to get some plates made to swap over.

Dean, front and rear are both standard 52x11cm but I found plastic bags with screws and paper labels saying 'front (and rear) plate mounting kit' in them so I can't swear the fitting is standard.

So, did you go for one of the others we knew were on sale or did you find another one? What year? When do you get it?

Rear plates on Chrysle UK product is normally quite a bit deeper than a standard plate in order to fill in the gap.
