Chrysler 300c - what engine?

What engine would be in a 2005 300c "hemi" 5.7ltr

are we talking THE hemi (created by God on the 8th day, etc)?

It's a modern hemi which purists will tell you isn't a hemi at all.

Not a bad engine - pushrod V8.

I was very disappointed with my 300C. Only kept it for a few weeks. Certainly didn't 'go' like a 'proper' Hemi.

Well it only makes 360hp in a 4000lb car. I imagine the SRT8 has a bit more poke.

No doubt, though it was the delivery, as much as the outright power. You had to rev it to get it to hustle along a bit. Not what you expect from a V8. I reckon I've been spoilt with my V8's for the last few years, what with the Roush, LS7 and now the Hennessey LS3.

I found the 6.1L hemi in my 300C very satisfying in every sense. It was docile and sonorious in town and turned ito a snarling monster when it came on the cam. It's a wonderful, unburstable motor that will become very sought after in time. The new 392 hemi is better still - more power and torque and the addition of cylinder deactivation (already in the 5.7) makes it easier to live with mpg-wise.
It is very easy to get 430hp out of the 5.7 for around $2k.

5.7 is a Hemi, SRT8 is a 6.1L Hemi.

Personally I'm into the 50s Hemi engines...
