Hi all,
My mate is thinking about one of these as a bit of fun, only problem I can see being re-sale really!
So what is there to look for? Any problems? Guess tyres are pricey as I couldn't really find much choice on Camskill. 255/45/20 and 265/45/20 I think?
He wants a (rare?) estate really.

Hi yer there are a couple of estates kicking around but they where quite a limited production run
Fuel is the other think you'll need with a srt8 and plenty of it lol, not much goes wrong on them really just bottom arms can knock meaning replacement arms.
Word of warning though if you buddy plans to lpg it because the fuel costs to much then he really won't like the price of the spares and you do need to keep on top of the maintenance on these otherwise than can look quite tired very quickly.

I owned a 2007 m/y 300C SRT-8 saloon (not estate) from 2008 until early 2012 and put 55,000 miles on it during my ownership. It was a great car which delivered an enormous amount of satisfaction during my ownership of it.
Mine was metallic black and the paint looked just as good when I offed it as it did when I took delivery - and it lived in a baking sub-tropical climate. No issues whatsoever with paint finish/clearcoat.
I had one or two issues that were thankfully covered by the warranty. 1st was a front strut failure that required a replacement costing more than $1000. I also had the transmission control module replaced, which would have cost around $600 had I been paying for it. There was also a TSB replacement of the tach output node oil seal, but that was early and simple/cheap to fix.
Cars that are exposed to salty roads are somewhat susceptible to corrosion of the brake piston surface plating, which is a pricey repair, given they are big, expensive calipers/rotors.
Mine also had the bonnet gas struts crap out - a very, very common fault on this car.
The motor is pretty much unbreakable as long as you keep the oil clean - but it is a thirsty, thirsty engine. I loved the way mine delivered though - just a huge wave of torque that gets angrier and angrier as the revs rise. A few simple and cheap mods (Predator remap and a cat-back exhaust) delivered sub 5 second 0-60, high 11 1/4 mile runs and 170mph - pretty impressive for a 4200lb car.
In the country I live in, it's the first owner who takes the depreciation hit - they seem to level off therafter.
