CHEVY 350 ENGINE REBUILD
Discussion
I'm looking at lifting the motor out of my 72 Chevelle SS later this year as its loosing loads of oil and i fancy giving it a bit more oompf !!! i've got some performer heads (70cc) lined up from a mate. so i'm thinking crank grind, rebore, flat tops (Keith Black or similar),moly rings, Lunati voodoo cam, lightened and balanced, airgap manifold, etc, would like about 9.5/1 c/r or more.
question is can anyone here suggest a good engineering company to do this work in Essex preferably near Basildon, i was a fitter by trade so putting the thing back together isnt a problem, but the machine work is !
should i get the bits here or source them from Summit in US ??
discussion/thoughts please

You can use Neil at Austec Racing in Crawley for the engineering work - he has done many small block 350 to 383's
Get him to do that bit and build the bottom end(short rngine) and then get some Edelbrock ali heads, performer RPM cam, lifter and timing set,650 carb, hardened pushrods, roller rockers and all the gaskets - between Realsteel and Roadcraft they should have the bits in stock - should cost about 2.5k in parts.
With the 383 bore that should give you about 380 bhp and 400lbs torque.
How do I know this - just done the nearly the same thing in my Overfinch!

There's a mob called ICE near Southend they built Chengs V8 race engine and are sorting some stuff on Barry the Anoraks 289 or Gosnays on the A127 they do all the crack/pressure testing & balancing as well as boreing etc. There is a mob up at wickford some where that machine engines supposed to be very good but not sure if they do yank V8's ,their one of Barbs customers, I'll try to get a name for you

ICE moved to Silverstone 10 years ago http://www.iceautomotive.co.uk/ but if you want quality it's the best there is. Gassing Station | Yank Motors | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
