Hi all,

I’m new to this and you’ve probably been asked a million times already [apologies in advance], but I’m looking for advice and recommendations because I’m considering buying a late 1970s/early 1980s GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck.

It’ll be my first American vehicle so are there any pitfalls I should look out for? I’m thinking here of known mechanical issues that are difficult and/or very expensive to address and other areas I should check when inspecting a pickup, that sort of thing.

Appreciate any guidance and many thanks in advance,

Pensky

I have a 1985 chevy stepside.
Main things to look for are chassis and bodywork.
Mechanically they are relatively easy/cheap to fix.

very simply join a few of the US model specific forums - ANY problem you can think of they've already had (with the, probable, obvious exception of UK related issues. MoT etc)
