My wife has just reported that her 2003 jeep is showing a red light on the dash, which isn't marked and doesn't appear in the diagrams of the dash in the manual. the light in question is between the fuel gauge and tacho'.

A bit of internet research suggests that this light is related to the alarm system, there seem to be a few posts from guys in the states who have suggested this and I guess its probably true, but there does seem to be quite a few variations of the cherokee/liberty with quite different kit. Our jeep has an LED which indicates the alarm is armed by the radio, and it seems illogical to me to use an LED in a different location to indication a malfunction of the alarm system.

Can anyone shed light on the mystery LED on a UK cherokee

If my hazey memory serves me right it is indeed to do with the alarm. I think it's an ultrasonic sensor fault.

apparently the plip fob was misbehaving earlier, I'll swap out the battery in the fob and if all else fails head to the stealer
