I was not a big fan of these before; however, this newer version appeals more to me. Over all though, the Buick LaCrosse is tops in this class IMO.

Similar thoughts myself, Chrysler Dodge not my first choice of manufacturer.

However....the 300m is a lot of car for the money and has cooled front seats.(I like that)

I may get tempted.

I just couldn't stomach the $56k price tag - but it sure got a LOT nicer and even stronger than the previous gen 300C SRT-8....

I love the older Chrysler 300C with it's imposing front styling.
Predictably Fiat softened it and made it look a bit ghey in the latest incarnation.

They're robust cars, RWD, evolved multi link ex Mercedes platform, finely honed, robust Hemi engine. Not alot goes wrong with them.

I can't take Buicks too seriously. I regurly rent new cars and when I rented a Buick Lucerne- with it's 'high value' transverse V6 - I just felt under whelmed and could imagine that car degenerating into a russty appliance in a few years.

Try a 2012 non-rental model. They have overtaken some German and Jap usual suspects in JD Power ratings. smile

Jim, I know about the JD Power ratings of Buicks and how reliable they are, I bought an old one for the wife.

They just don't excite me! (Just like very few Jap Crap excites me!)

Why are you doing a 'top gear' and comparing it with the Jag - which is alot more expensive.
It's about as ridiculous as when Clarkson compared a Dodge Ram with an Ariel Atom
rolleyes

You should really be comparing it to something of similar price- such as a Ford Mondeo or Big plasticy Honda Legend or something.

Before you think I'm biased against the Jag- I was involved in it's design and development.

When Chrysler are getting 31 mpg (US) like that on a full size V8 like that one wonders why folks buy GM Malibu 4 cylinders which only get 27-29 mpg.
Perhaps it apppeals to the Mr Gears who get excited about small engines!

300C SRT-8 with all the options tips the scales at $54,000 + the usual tax, tag, title.
Sounds like a substantial sum, but when you sit it next to it's European competition it looks OK - if you factor out the terrifying depreciation. In a year's time the same car will be around $30-35K and then it'll be an absolute steal.

Excellent question and theory. smile
