Typically just as we want to sell the old girl she's started displaying some rather 'interesting' faults.

04 PT Cruiser 2.2 CRD Classic

1. The airbag light for the passenger side airbag is intermittently on and 'dinging'. Other half has changed the fuse and checked all connections but it hasn't made any difference.

2. The car has stood at the In Laws since November, unfortunately outside. Father in Law has been starting it and running it around the block but its not been on a run for a while. When we came to it at the weekend (ironically as someone was coming to look at it to buy) we had no dash lights at all, no speedo, no mileage display. Again he's checked all the fuses, had the dash out and cleaned the connections (first thought was damp with it standing), checked all connections. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It is incredibly infuriating. Thinking it may be something to do with the battery we have charged that fully but again this has made no difference.

Auto electrician has been out this morning and had a look, scratched his head a bit and left to 'do some research'.

I appreciate the above may be a bit vague, as soon as the other half gets home from work tonight I can probably explain in much more detail but I'm hoping someone has come across something similar and recognises the problem! We need to sell the car now really and while it has these problems we really can't let it go. As I say, frustrating as we bought it new and have had very few problems with her.

Check the lives and earths to the dash got a feeling pin4 on connector 1 ( the large of the 2) is a permanent live there should be a couple of ignition feeds on that connector to if there all ok check the connectors them selves for open up pins and Such, you might be looking at a set of clocks worst comes to worst

Yep, sparky has been back today and can't do anymore. He says the dash was subject to a recall but I've found that was in 2002, as this is an 04 model you'd hope that they would have sorted the issues, though I'm having my doubts.

Have managed to source a new set of clocks, bloke is being really good about it and says we can take the car in and try the replacement dash tomorrow so hopefully this will fix it.

I'll update!

Dropped in the new dash, perfect and everything works again. Only problem is it now reads 38k as opposed to the 120k it has actually done, but we have a FSH on the car so hopefully its not going to be a big issue to a buyer.

Unfortunately it didn't make any difference to the air bag light which is still intermittently beeping. I think we have now come to the conclusion we are just going to advertise it for £1500, explain the issues and let someone else have a play around with it.

Thanks for the help Ben!
