Hi Any of you Lightning owners had to replace the head gaskets? Trucks running fine I know one has slighty gone so will do both obviously, every thing arrived today just waiting to get started wondering what hurdles may lay ahead.

I am hoping to do this with the engine in, which i believe is possible, its a 2002 motor btw

It's a nice easy job with the motor out.

However with it insitu you'll end up with back ache and skinned knuckles.
Good Luck

BTW pay special attention when setting the cam timing as you have to strip
the front end off the motor and its a PITA
Remove radaitor, inner wheel arches etc etc for access

Personally I would pull the motor out complete and carry out the work
on the bench.

Is it deffo a head gasket? If you have water coming out of the exhaust it
could be a leaky intercooler which the early ones were prone to. I had this
on my 99 and while it was a tricky job to do was not as bad as I imagine taking
the heads off would be ?

You should check out Rebel, there are a couple of owners around Norwich, should be able to point you in the right direction.
