Mustang, Challenger or Camaro (paging 300bhp)
Discussion
I’m currently planning the road trip part of me and my future wife’s honeymoon for this August, which involves an eight day trip covering around 1000 miles picking up and dropping off at Las Vegas. The obvious choices through Hertz are the Ford Mustang GT Premium, the Dodge Challenger RT and the Chevy Camaro SS.
I like the Challenger but the interior is quite poor in my opinion, she likes the Mustang but all the (cheesy American) reviews I’ve read say the Camaro is the best of the three cars.
Anyone driven all three? Any recommendations?

You rang?I've rented all 3. First rule, whatever you choose, get the V8 model.
Goes nicer, sounds nicer and generally has a better interior than the base V6 model.
Challenger.
Biggest and floatiest of the 3 with not a bad interior and easiest to get lots of luggage in.
That might be a consideration if you are not staying in one place.
Camaro
Worst interior by far but feels the most Hot Roddy of them all. Cool HUD for that Top Gun feel and it's like driving something with a roof chop.
Mustang
Best interior by far and best engine with the new Boss 5.0.
Not the most spacious but if there's only 2 of you, its the nicest place to be.
Not a huge fan of the looks of the facelift model but it's got the overall package.
I don't think either of the 3 will disappoint you.
The Mustang is the best handler but out there, that won't bother you. It has the best ineterior and sounds best but the looks after 2010 are a bit marmite.
I' d probably pik the Camaro just to see what it was like but on looks, the Challenger has them both licked. It depends how far you're going to drive. I've hired a V6 Charger and it was very dull inside and you'd hardly know what you were driving so to some degree what it looks like when you're inside, doesn't matter.
If you're more concerned with how it drives, I'd take the Mustang.

OP, have you definitely booked the V8 from the Hertz premium collection?
It's a Dodge Challenger RT from Hertz's Adrenaline Collection, it's the only model of Challenger they appear to do. Everything I've researched and read says this will be the 5.7 litre Hemi V-8.OP, have you definitely booked the V8 from the Hertz premium collection?

Goody. I rented the V6 once and although it looked the part, it was a bit pants.
We'll be expecting lots of cool pics from the trip.
On the huge long straights near Vegas they have signs saying speed limit enforced by aircraft, this calmed the speeding in the hertz mustang slightly.
We did have a little play with a challenger just outside Yosemite. I shouted something about bullett and floored it past some slower traffic (kinda had to, we were being persued and everything) then my wife woke up and asked if I was racing..... No dear, I'll slow down.
Loved the mustang we got, it was only the v6 and not paticularly good at anything but I'd have one tomorrow

The current Mustang GTs are 400HP from the factory. I like the Challenger but the interior is quite poor in my opinion, she likes the Mustang but all the (cheesy American) reviews I’ve read say the Camaro is the best of the three cars.
