Here's my new baby. Just bought it in the US of A. Hopefully will be with me around mid January. It's a 1972 Chevy Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe 350, matching numbers, A/C car. It sits a bit too high at the back so that will be the first job to sort out, then paint.

Lovely. Doesn't look like it needs much paintwork though.

Nice! Tons of aftermarket suspention parts available to make it handle and ride well.

It looks very straight and unmolested. Regarding paint, I think it's a bit of an unfortunate color, but if that's how it rolled out of the plant, I'd be tempted to keep it as original as you can. The blue 'pleather' seat covering doesn't match the rest of the interior trim, or am I color-blind?

If you want this car to retain value, you shouldn't dick around too much with aftermarket suspension parts. If you want a better driving experience, you probably should.

Is that 350 a 2bbl or a 4?

The interior is original green, maybe looks a bit blue on the pic... The engine was originally 350 2bbl but it had new carb , intake and cam fitted in the 80's so I don't know exactly what's on it for now. For next season all I wanted to do is to change the wheels (15" or 17"), lower the back end and sort the paint, by which I mean deal with the rusts spot and maybe give it a quick layer of original colour just to re-fresh it. I will definitely keep it as original as I can or will keep original parts in storage if I'll replace it with some aftermarket items. The only mods I would like to do is a bit of engine work to make it go a bit quicker but that's all. The arrival in the port date is 27th December so hopefully I will be able to see it very soon and make my mind from there on what to do next.

Nice. Not keen on 70s barges usually but that's still early enough not to look too daft. Fab.

Blimey, where did you learn manners? Should I perhaps have said "over sized 70s American autombiles" instead? Dearie me, I do apologise...

Merely trying to add some levity to your preposterous description.

Calling this a 'barge', I can understand - but a Chevelle?

Well its a 2 door coupe the size of half a house (not literally) so for a COUPE...

Believe it or not, my original comment WAS meant to be quite lighthearted... Nothing wrong with barges at all, I've seen plenty impressive looking iron at shows. And my camaro is hardly small (although I guess its smaller than the Chevelle)

It sure has biggrin There's quite a few things I need to do before taking it for MOT but none of them is a big job. After that I will sort the rust problems (just one bit on the front wing) and it'll be ready to cruise. I decide not to change the colour, it looks good as it is. But a good polish will definitely help.
I will let you know when it will be on the road and will add some pics.

Excellent news.

If you need any Chevelle specific bits, These chaps www.ss396.com are pretty good. I used them a few times when i had my old Chevelle.

Yeah still here... We even drove it to the big show in Hungary in the summer (1500 miles smile ) and scooped the prize for best car of the 90's... Still thinking what to do with it...
