Which is such a useful and helpful point to make.... oh actually, no it's a stupid and pointless point to make. My bad.

I have read some reviews & they get a mixed reaction to be honest, some like them & say they are reliable, some say avoid.
I know it's not really a "PH" car but I don't really care about that! biggrin

Thank you.
I quite like them myself, in fact I think they look fab, esp in met red or blue as it really shows the shape off and exaggerates the size of the wheels.

I also know a few who have had them and they seemed rather taken with them.

And as a rule they also garnered positive reviews. Try YouTube for the original Tiff/Fifth Gear review. He seemed to like it. And from what I can tell it generally received better reviews than the Merc SLK it shares its platform with.

All this said though, I think you need to buy one for the right reasons. It's more a 2 seat GT car than a sports car. It's not quite sharp enough or sporty enough to compete with the likes of more feisty alternatives. And less practical than most coupes or junior GT's. That said, being a 2 seater does mean it's more compact and easy to park/place than something like an XK8.

If you want more pace keep an eye out for the SRT-6 variant, there are some in the UK. These are the 320hp supercharged version.

Personally I'd have one just for the looks and while I don't really care what others think, it sort of irks me that there are so many sheep that have to follow and repeat what JC said, just to make themselves look clever.

Very sorry; just offering an opinion that I happen to agree with.

Alright then, more relevant; it's not American, it's built in Germany and based on a Mercedes, sharing 80% of it's components. Is that stupid and pointless?

I like them..(although it doesn't do to admit it on here).....decent looking, cheap to buy, new owners have taken the depreciation hit,.....plenty worse cars out there...

But surely these facts make it a good car?

I have no idea. I've never driven either. I was stating a fact. Why not try a test drive?

I just wanted genuine advice from anyone who has owned one & from people who have an opinion on them, wether good or bad before I commit to doing anything.

Much prefer the looks of the convertible to the coupe, but I'm another who likes them.

Ive not heard anyone on here so far who can back up the reason why they say "no".

If there are genuine reasons, I am all ears.

I have also heard that the 3.2V6 is the one to go for & to avoid the SRT.
Several owners reviews say this.

Interesting, is there a reliability issue with the SRT or is it to do with how it drives?
