I posted this in GG but I guess I'd get more answers here.

I live in Montreal, Quebec and I really want to get a car, must fulfil these criteria:

  • $4-6k CAD
  • Preferrable 4WD
  • Has decent safety (Drivers are terrible here, I'd really like a US Classic but again, the driving is terrible!)
  • Convertible would be nice but not essential
  • V8 would be nice as well!
  • Won't kill me in winter
Any suggestions? smile

I don't know if a truck appeals actually, I wouldn't need something as big as that.

I was thinking something more sedan sized...

Ex-police Crown Victoria on snow tyres? No-one'll drive close enough to you to get into an accident if you get a white one with black steel wheels :-)

(I've been down in Niagara Falls for seven years - welcome to Canada)

Thanks, I'm considering joining Communauto instead as it seems pretty cheap!

Definitely a pickup. You could even get the convertible effect if you got someone to drive while you sat in the back.

Ok so now Christmas has been sorted I'm looking at this again.

Thinking of being really boring and picking up a B6 Audi A4 Quattro or similar for around $8k, unless someone can tempt me otherwise...
