Tyre pressures 75 Lincoln Continental
Discussion
Gents,
Would appreciate some advice on tyre pressures for my 75 Lincoln Continental Mkiv.
Having had 3 motorway blow outs in 2 days (!) its now sitting, temporarily, on four brand new Falken 235/75/R15.
The original door label states tyre pressure of 26 psi all round.
Do you think that is still appropriate for a modern tyre?
On advice, I started at 33, am now down at 30 - but the ride is still noticeably more harsh.
And, finally, I need a new set of whitewalls for it - any advice on what/where to go looking>
Many thanks.

Don't know where in the UK you're located but I got the tires for my '64 Lincoln here...:

I'd guess that your car was originally fitted with bias-ply tires (or cross-ply tyres as we say in the UK), as it wasn't until around 1975 that the big manufacturers even started producing mass market radials. Also a recommended pressure of 26 psi definitely sounds like that was aimed at a bias ply. Can't recall where I found the info, but I recall it being said that you should add around 5 psi for running on radials. So I'd say LuS1fer was in the right ball-park when he suggested 30 to 32 psi.
