DRS—H
Not the RAM 400 H I was hoping for !
But we’re all legal which is the main thing,
I’ve started to source the necessary to make to body dolly
So I can move the shell once it’s stripped,
Haven’t decided on whether a rotisserie is feasible as I can’t see my little garage being big enough!
Plan is get as much done in the next 12 months and hopefully get it all in colour before i retire

That was probably asking for a little too much DVLA cooperation DRS—H
Not the RAM 400 H I was hoping for !
Most likely though that RAM 400H was issued in period, as there is RAM 650H currently for sale on one of the cherished reg number sites, so most likely RAM 1H to RAM 999H was issued back in 1969/70.
Do a DVLA check online, it might be still sitting on a rusty Moggie Minor in a shed somewhere....

Yeah just kidding really,
But will deffo keep an eye out for an interesting plate,
Surprisingly come up one the car auction sites and I’ve seen a few that wasn’t to daft price wise,
One wonders if you’d still away with a US style plate these days,
Ran my TBird on US type for donkeys !
Never had any issues?
But I guess these days with plate recognition may it would flag up ??

Good
The stamped ones are very neat and look just right, the TA has quite a small appature at the rear
But realistically not overly important at this time !
And yes Leigh thanks for the reminder!
Time for the unbelievable tedium that a full restoration involves to begin

You need to keep a regular eye on Evilbay-USA for vintage licence plate frames, given you know the original New York supplying dealer name, as you might find one, or even a pair of their dealer licence plate frame's on there, which would be a cool thing to get hold of. They are not usually that expensive either.Good

Mine came with UK pressed plates, albeit undersized. I was going to swap to US style ones but I quite like it as it is now, plus I already have red indicators that might attract Dibble's attention. Opinions? :chinny:LeighW said:

Don’t worry about the rear lights , I’ve never had a tug with them, and it’s not so much the colour , unless it’s Been got at it’s the fact it’s the brake light that flash !Just another of the US’s strange ways,
I always re engage the running lights to
Amber up forward, they just look cool,
You wouldn’t believe the state of the Challengers rear wiring, diabolical lash up,
Don’t think the TA’s has been got at?
All this reversing light malarkey just ruins the loom

Did get pulled in my previous 59 El Camino as it didn't show up on MID ,while the older of
the two cops checked with my insurance company the younger one spotted that my plates wasn't
yellow reflective but made no mention of the black and white States Plates i was running on,
I had to tell him that i didn't need yellow ones as the car was a 59 and didn't come under that regulation,
Got stopped in the 3 window about 10 minutes after i unbolted the plate away from the headers, pulled me because
the rear fenders didn't cover the width of the tyres ,thought wait till he goes around the front as there was no fenders at all
but didn't mention anything about that , again on black and white SS with the front one behind the grill so not really readable ,
Once he checked it was mot'd ,taxed and insured he was ok saying so this is what they call a rat rod, i just nodded politely and did my best
to drive off quietly which wasn't easy as i was half way up a steep hill.,
Would have been better not to have any fenders at all so they where removed as soon as i got home .

Opinions? :chinny:Not sure if the 'legality' still applies but for years vehicles imported from outside the UK had a dispensation to use slightly smaller numerals/text (as used on motorcycles/tricycles........so 64mm x 44mm). Not sure if that applies to post 1973 vehicles with yellow/white background. Looks like yours Leigh (as per mine) are that size. I believed this originated back in the 60's where it was impossible to fit a UK number plate in a standard USA sized 'cut-out' typically seen in the 'chrome bumper' era. I seem to recall reading somewhere that on newer cars registraion number must be all on one line (rather than two lines on a Yank sized plate?

Seems that 'plod', certainly the 'traffic' 'plod' in some areas of late are targetting vehicles with 'iffy' number plates.......irrespective of whether our number plates are legal or otherwise if they 'pull' you for 'details' like this.....do we really want them nosing around looking for other 'issues'?

I had undersized plates when I had JDM imported cars and had no issues come MOT time, this was a good few years back though. The following link suggests we're ok with the smaller plates as long as it's an imported non UK spec car.Not sure if the 'legality' still applies but for years vehicles imported from outside the UK had a dispensation to use slightly smaller numerals/text (as used on motorcycles/tricycles........so 64mm x 44mm). Think as long as you keep them simple whether black or yellow reflective with not to much lettering on them
you would have more chance of being ignored, half the time i'm sure the police don't really know the law themselves,
as long as they can be recognised by the Mid you will be fine,
How some of these States Plates that are multi coloured to match the paintwork on the car or certain colourful States like Florida have
actually get away with driving too and from shows ,would have thought you would get pulled every other mile,
