A '49 Sedanette is one of my favourite Caddy's
Used to see a really nice slightly kustom metallic gold '49 Sedanette on a regular basis at ROG back in the great days when it was at Knebworth......but not seen it anywhere since those great days.
Have seen that gold '49 around.....perhaps not too recently......mind you I haven't been tosny shows in the last couple of years or so.....fairly sure it's a North Essex or Suffolk car.Used to see a really nice slightly kustom metallic gold '49 Sedanette on a regular basis at ROG back in the great days when it was at Knebworth......but not seen it anywhere since those great days.

Anyone fancy a 70 TA? These things are EVERYWHERE!

Like bus's Leigh, they seemed to come out of the woodwork all at once https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204815495714?mkevt=1&am...
and all at sensible money too. This won't be there for long at that sort of money.
Makes one wonder what planet these sellers are on ??
Notch backs are asking 30 plus ,
Both those TA’s were cheap, the manual car is 40K plus all day,
But at The end of The day if one’s happy with The price
No problem!!
At least it’s gone!!!
And new things await, makes the world go round!

Still looks great, and as you say, likely lives up that neck of the woods, and doesn't travel too far now, and with ROG being almost dead now as a show, and a hour or so further away than Knebworth, likely why I've not seen it since.roscobbc said:
Wonder what the 'trade' think about late model Mustangs and UK spec' RHD vs USA spec' LHD and C8 Corvettes....again UK spec' vs USA personal import LHD?
Was thinking the same, With so many rhd modern Mustangs about now i was inclined to think that with a different mind set that most buyers of these modern yanks have to us with our classics a lhd Mustang 550 might be bought at a much reduced price which for me anyway preferring lhd would be a
advantage ,But try finding one ,I can't remember the last time i saw a lhd 550 model,
I had my eye on a LHD 2019 Bullitt with only 7,000 miles on the clock which was on Car & Classic auction and local to me ,to my amazement
it sold for £42K which is about give or take what RHD drives fetch , Could have been a European buyer of course,

I'd assume the 'mainstream' trade prefers RHD in the more modern stuff?
Not for me though. A mate has just bought a 22 reg Mustang Mach 1. It's a cracking looking thing in grey paint, but it being RHD puts me right off. I can't give a rational, logical reason why, it just does! RHD makes far more sense in this country, but for me a Yank has to be a left hooker.
Do like those Mach 1's , A manual Jet fighter grey with Recaro's will do, Not for me though. A mate has just bought a 22 reg Mustang Mach 1. Big discounts from the Ford main dealers last year on new ones making way for the Dark Horse this year,
With the prices of very average 65/68 fastbacks at the same sort of level and with most early unmodified Mustangs driving like Transit vans
i think the Mach 1 should be a lot of fun with a modern twist,

Stumbled across this today whilst walking the dogs. According to MrsC, who walks around there regularly, it's "been there for ages". It's on a quiet road outside a nice house. I thought it looked rather good!
Love those full size stacked headlight Pontiac'sA Bonneville is definitely on my hit list if one ever comes up.

It's interesting hearing your thoughts on RHD US cars. RHD GM, Ford and Chrysler products are something I grew up with in NZ. In my small town of around 2000 people, back in the 80s you'd see a little old lady driving her 68 impala to the hairdresser on a Friday, 3-4 other 50s and 60s chevs in daily use, a big finned Chrysler a local builder owned that was cut down to a ute/pick up, a couple of Canadian export RHD Pontiacs, various 30s cars tucked away in backyards and then the hot rod/street machine boys with all the dressed up cars. The local garage had a Ford Jailbar pick up for their tow truck (known as Hector) and the further south you went, the more common the V8 rumble got.
To me it's the best of both worlds - you get the styling, but in my right hook Impala I don't need to be almost completely in the opposite lane to see if the road is clear to pass; I can go thorough tolls/drive in burger joints easily, and it's easy to pullout from being parked. Having said that, it was all 4 door sedans we got (50s/60s cars - we had a lot of two door and coupes from earlier years) but seeing these cars in daily use (and getting thrashed down the drag strip) was what got me interested in US cars.
Your 100% right ,more practical, better value for money as prices are lower but for me anyway it has to be lhd with a V8 under the hoodTo me it's the best of both worlds - you get the styling, but in my right hook Impala I don't need to be almost completely in the opposite lane to see if the road is clear to pass; I can go thorough tolls/drive in burger joints easily, and it's easy to pullout from being parked. Patina........nothing too new - had 'it' on my 4 speed '66 Galaxie 7 Litre.........also the F60 General Scramblers on black painted & 'banded' steel with 'chopped' springs...........but this was back 45 years ago in the late 70's (Jeez, I'm so ancient!)You may have invented the word patina,

Another one for the list !! Always loved these 49 fastbacks, did miss out on a couple ,always regretted not buying a similar blue one Used to see a really nice slightly kustom metallic gold '49 Sedanette on a regular basis at ROG back in the great days when it was at Knebworth......but not seen it anywhere since those great days.
at the NEC Silverstone auction a few years ago after buying a D Type replica earlier on in the sale which turned out to be a disaster,
Just don't see these fastbacks on the market anymore, one of these and a 59 convertible would have to be a keeper.

Ii that black '61 Eldorado Biaritz up for sale yours? - very nice in a 'restrained' but really still unrestrained way!
Yes, she’s mine, I imported it in 2019, sold it in 2021, recently got it back, well sorted car mechanically, needs a bit of cosmetics but the styling and drive are on point and rare with the bucket seat interiorQuick car that had a much lighter feel with agile handling compared to the earlier Caddy's ,
Like most of my Caddy's ended up being sold to Europe .

Looks like you were ahead of your time rosco ,
You may have invented the word patina,
Ha! - grey primer hood, breakers yard front fender in blue, red oxide primer spots (not rust) over Sahara Beige body. XL bucket seat interior in Emberglow - which was probably the best ever factory bucket seat interior of its time. You may have invented the word patina,

Loved my black 49 Conv, really nice survivor car, one of the most solid Caddys I’ve ever seen, another well sorted car you could drive anywhere though tiring to drive compared to laters cars with manual brakes and steering and those lever arm shocks that bounce you accross the road if you hit a bumpat the NEC Silverstone auction a few years ago after buying a D Type replica earlier on in the sale which turned out to be a disaster,
