Hi

Some moron vandalised the rear bumper on my lasses mk2 trying to get into the boot. Plan is to get another get it painted, i'll fit it, then get blown in if needs be.

looking on the bay of e, there is 04 rear bumper from a 1.8 s-vt sport. not knowing much about mx5's can anyone advise if this is the same as standard bumper? or failing that will fit?

What year is your lady's MX-5? Is it a Mk2 or Mk2.5? Pretty sure they're the same anyway, but just to be sure!

A 52 plate is a mk2.5 so that bumper will be exactly the same as on yours.

yes

S-VT was the 6-speed one with extra toys, heated leather, LSD, etc.

Body panels are identical for all variants.

Back is easier than the front!

Pretty easy actually, but keep a pot handy as there are quite a lot of small plastic clips that are easily lost.

You may need to take off the back panel (number plate panel) to make access easier, and possibly the lights to get the back panel off.

Sounds like a difficult job, but the lights come off in 2 minutes per side, and the back panel removal is another 5 minute job.

If you have muddy flaps fitted (fnarr!), clean them up before getting in, it'll make life easier. It's a relatively new car, so don't expect too many problems.

Re-fit with a bit of copper-ease on the bolts if you have it, doesn't do any harm and will make life easier in future if you have to take it off again.

I've only done a Mk1, but have had a quick look at our Mk2.5 and it's very similar.

HTH.
