Haven't the time to do it myself, how much £££ should a decent respray of a mk1 top cost?

It will depend on whether you want to stay the same colour or change it, but I wouldn't have thought more than a couple of hundred quid or so.

Full resprays (same colour) of the entire car come in at around £1,200, so that should give you an idea.

I'd be tempted to give it a go myself, it's a pretty easy part to paint and it would give you some good experience for painting the rest of the car (or any future car) should it ever need it.

Thinking of doing myself if I can find the time, its currently yellow & going to be black, but looking at it it was black originally, so maybe worth rubing down to the black paint before priming & painting.

Biggest problem is convincing my dad to nick his garage for the weekend, having no garage sucks frown

You could always do it in a tent/marquee/gazebo that can be fully closed. smile
