A colleague has an MX-5 with original soft top. Its in good condition and watertight but the colour has faded to grey.

Are there any products / advice out there to restore the hoods black colour?

Thanks.

I would suggest the Renovo range - they do cleaner, proofer and plastic window polish. You just need to select the right products for the hood - which if it's original, should be a vinyl one.

I re-did mine at the weekend (I ignored the directions about appying with a paintbrush and used a cloth - it uses much less product!) and it has certainly made it look a bit less shabby.

That's what I do!

Give the hood a clean as part of the car wash, then when it's dried, slap a load of boot polish over it - black and water-repellant!

Bargainous!
