Slave Cylinder replacement
Discussion
How much would you expect a garage to charge for this (as apparently the one on my car went this morning )
All costs parts & labour?
They quoted around £100!? However this is after quoting around £200 for master and slave replacing.
Garage also said something to this effect as they decided to go with slave only:
'The only thing would be if the slave is fitted it has been known to blow the connections/seals on the master. This has happened to his knowledge. He said he'd chance it and if there's any difference noted with the clutch at all to take it back.'
Does that sound right?
Any advice appreciated.

It's not a difficult job to do - there's a how to guide in the 'common faults/buying guide' wiki.
The part can be had for about £30 and it should take no more than an hour to fit. Usually the slave is all that needs replacing.
If you don't fancy doing it yourself, £100 doesn't sound unreasonable assuming that's for labour & parts.

Slave cylinder is the easy one, just jack up the car on that side and you can get to it easily.
When I had mine done I discovered the master cylinder to be the awkward one as it's held on by two studs. The nut on one is on the inside of the car near the pedals, the other is on the bulkhead in the engine compartment and is a sod to get at, it needs a long extension and a helper!
I have a mechanic who comes round (if you're in the Bristol area and want his contact details, PM me) and because I assisted him he only charged me £45 to replace both.
