Just to let you all know, my trusty lil' 1.6 pulled 111mph with the top down, and 113mph with the top up at VMax.

I'd derestriced it, and it was constantly off the clock - with 113mph showing 6,100rpm in 5th. It did 110mph umpteen times, with 111 and 113 being wind assisted I'd imagine hehe

It also went sideways everywhere, and could hold it's own in a corner biggrin

I am no stranger to serious speed but i have to say going 80-90 leptons on an airfield with the roof down is more than enough to be honest - the sensation of speed is quite high especially with the wind hitting you hehe

Both passenger and driver sticking their hands out of the roof whilst sideways at 80mph is also rather hoot hehe

You should try 100mph with the roof down on gravel! hehe

It does tend to focus one's senses...

Pah, it feels fine at 100-110 er.. KMH.. bit noisy, mind wink

Can't believe how much more power the S/C adds at higher speeds like that, it's great. I feel my car could easily run out of gearing in 5th if I fancied losing my license

I cant imagine what the 9ff car felt like at 210mph roof down.

The mx5 was quite a spectacle, i love it.

I've had an indicated 120 roof down out of mine.
No idea if it'd go any quicker...

Indicated is widly inaccurate. Usually assume 10% overread - which mine was.

I was right off the clock (and I mean touching 125-130) and I only pulled 113mph through the traps - which my passenger with my GPS device verified.

It'd just about go off the clock before I speed limited it, but one I removed the lil' screw, I had no problems.

Only thing I ran into was a lack of power - it simply needed more time to wind past 6,100rpm in that short distance of 1.5 miles.

hehe

I must admit, I ran out of things to do/push/arms to stick out of the car after a while...

Heeeeee...snap - went a little further than that - but you only have 1.5 miles to do it in...

Also, on the way there, being followed by the PH test Aston Martin Rapide, Garlick in the passenger seat (looking like he's scoring my efforts)...

Why is your airbag light on, is this the MX-5 equivalent of lowering the back seats for extra speed? confused

My 10 AE will do an indicated 120 mph in 5th with a few hundred rpm to go, it also has a sixth gear, but dropping into this at 120 mph made no difference, it wouldn't push on.

I'm wondering if upping the rev limiter and using fourth will make much of a difference?

Faulty sensor. There's no problem with the airbag, but the light came on anyway.
