And that confession is that I haven't driven the MX5 with the roof down since I had the supercharger fitted back in December. paperbag

But I went out just now, threw the roof down and duly proceeded to hoon.

O...M...G the noise!!

The 'charger has added a whole new dimension of awesomeness that I couldn't even hear from the cabin besides the whine!

The whine is more pronounced and 'integrated' with the fabulous engine and exhaust note, brilliant induction noise and induction roar/hiss of boost on heavy acceleration, and a little chatter from the bypass valve when downshifting and blipping the throttle.

All of these noises combine when you squeeze the throttle and the car flies forward with suitable shoven and Howard positively grins like an idiot. biggrin

My usual set of smooth twisties on the way to Dorking weren't held up for once so I was feeding the car through them in a lovely smooth fashion, balancing brakes, gears, acceleration and steering perfectly.

The brake upgrade has made stopping absolutely effortless, there's no "oh st" moment where you're not sure you're going to slow down in time, the car just dumps speed perfectly. The supercharger has added pretty much the exact opposite of these symptoms, and the suspension upgrades mean you feel practically part of the car as you're tooling through a decent set of winding roads.

Approached a car on an 'overtaking' stretch so I dropped a gear, depressed my right foot and they were gone. Minimum fuss, nice and safe, nice and quick.

Totally, utterly, 100% satisfying.

I LOVE boost and I LOVE my MX5.

Geek mode off. wink

Oh yes. I concur. From your post it sounds like you haven't yet discovered roof-down tunnel action... scares the hell out of others, you just catch them turning their shocked heads as you pass...

ETA: What is so cool about it too is that it is not like anything most people associate 1. With an MX5 and 2. With any car. It sounds so alien - everyone's heard turbos and dump valves, but that other-wordly shrieking...

Where did you get your wheels from?

They look mint on the red car.

Cheers for the heads up - they are mint.

Sadly, I only just managed to persuade SWMBO that I 'needed' a supercharged MX5....not sure £360 of new wheels would go down too well!

hehe

Erm... Power is nothing without control, or something!?

All this talk of FI is getting my goat up. I'm getting left behind by the PH MX5 community. I just need to save £1500 for a visit to Solihull...!

If they were cheaper and I was feeling flush I'd buy them as spares hehe I dread to think what would happen if one of mine got damaged

Do it, you won't regret it!

I was a little unsure when I arrived, but all it took was for Mark to gun it through every gear, overtake two cars on a country lane then get the exhaust popping on the overrun....

...and it was sold.

Same wheels as I had on my (just sold) red Mk1, never knew they were rare! I picked them up for $200 NZ (GB90) with budget tyres on them. hehe

They're not quite the same I believe, Ben . They're the ones listed on miata.net's wheel list?

Oh yes on closer inspection the rim is different - mine were Enkei RPO1 from memory.
