My drivers window is sticking at about a 3rd of the way on the way down with a bit of persausion it will pass the point where it is sticking and go down normally.

Anyone else come across this before? Is it a common problem etc..

I'll probably have the door card off at the weekend and have a look and see if i can spot any errant parts (Its quite possible that someone has tried to force the window to try and break in, the rubber that sits on top of the door does also look a little loose)

I hate working on electric windows I can never get them to match up the speed at which they go up and down once ive touched them :S

I did this a couple of weeks ago, and it's made them much better. Takes about an hour a side.

Another vote for that guide.
I followed it at the weekend just gone, the guide was spot on, although i discovered one of the cables had snapped.

I definately need to do this, drivers side is awful.

I do have slight concerns that i cant open it with the door shut, as it gets stuck on the rubber seal at the top, but when i open the door the window does go down about 1/3 of the way at least! Not keen on opening the door every time I want to put the window down for a bit!

Sounds like the runners have gone out of alignment Don, as I guess the flex in the door eases the passage for the window. Follow the link above, and don't do the runners up too tight until it runs smoothly. The only nasty bit is cleaning the runners.

The nasty bit is the black crap they use to stick the plastic sheet on with! gets everywhere and isnt easy to wash off!

Yeah, everyone seems to say that, but I think I was lucky as I didn't find it too bad, possibly because I did it on a cold day, and it was quite 'solid'. I can imagine doing it in the summer, where everything becomes very messy.
