I said in another post that I was going to buy a cheaper MX5 but so much for that I keep on going looking at a 52 Sport. This one, http://www.swilliamscarsales.com/sales.asp?Make=42...

Does this seem like good value? I drove it a few weeks ago and eveything seemed fine on it, I'm heading back this Sunday to have a more thorough look.

Thanks in advance

Seems reasonable, although perhaps on the high side. If you are willing to travel there's one here (page 6) http://dealerservices.autotrader.co.uk/28777/hillm... but there's more mileage on it. There's plenty of cars out there.

Looks a little toppy to me too.

Paid a little over £4K for an 02 incl hardtop with same miles as the second example a few months ago.

As said, lots of choice so take your time.

Is it still true, if it ever was that convertible values go up once summer starts?

My observation is there is slight firming/softening of MX5s with the seasons, yes.

It always seems to me that the prices don't change, it's just that cars sell easier in spring/summer.

I also noticed what Lazza said - the advertised prices dont really seem to change much, its just more that the ball is in the sellers court over summer. Your less likely to get a bargain as a buyer by waving money at people.

It's easy enough to do this for yourself by setting up Autotrader alert(s) and monitoring advertised prices over the course of a few weeks & months as I was doing last summer/autumn.

I paid that for a 03 one owner 30K Sport about 6 months back so i would say it`s a tad expensive but not too bad if it ticks all your boxes.

Having said that you never pay the asking price so maybe there is a deal to be done on it. I paid £1000 less than the car was advertised for.........Money talks!

Take a look on Gumtree too. That`s where i found mine. Not such a big audience on there.
