Just seen a set of these on Demon Tweeks (of all places) for £349 (plus delivery).

http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDeta...

They're bump and rebound adjustable, not height-adjustable which doesn't bother me as I'll only pick a height and leave it there.

Has anyone used these before? Any thoughts? Are they suitable for self-fitting by someone with fists of ham like mine?

As he says ^^^.. but then the Konis with springs have little rear spring travel too?

Shockers are fashion items it seems ..Gaz was the last one I remember which I did take after Stock/OEM Bilstein/Koni/AVO/Gaz route. About £530 a fully adjustable classic set? Still needs more rear travel..but sticking with stock springs, using Konis adjustable platform via the C clip is a time honoured and proven way forward (£565).. so I would go back to Gaz at that price as you get springs and full adjustment. The Koni is a better shock from a plush ride point of view.

Sorry a bunch more than your £350..

In fact at that price the KYB with 13mm lowering on MX5Parts is a not bad but no adjustment;
