OK, that's it. I am *sick* of misting up and wet seats, I need a new roof!

Mk.1 black vinyl plastic zip up window. I know Jack Smith is cheap and good but I can't afford the time to drive to Wales!

Where can I go in the SE that will do a decent job with a decent roof for a decent price!?

Try 'Mazmania' there website says they are in Cheshire but also states they have agents all over - worth a call or email.

They look to have some nice hoods though at good prices.

Thought about doing it yourself? Theres guides available.

Having owned a couple of mx5s now, one with mohair and one with vinyl roof, I would really recommend paying a bit more and going mohair smile

Looks better IMO, doesn't stretch or change shape in the cold/hot, so you have no problems putting it back up if you leave a hardtop on all winter. Won't split in the usual folding points and will last longer than a vinyl roof.

Only downsides are that they are more expensive and slightly more tricky to keep clean (fluff sticks to them)

A few here.

I'm probably going to try carhoodsdirect.co.uk, who have a (not very) 'special offer' on them.

Thanks guys. Did think about mohair but it would probably show up the rest of the car, and it lives outside so would end up covered in bird crap stains in a week.

I use Mark for all my servicing but when I last spoke to him about hoods I didn't remember him being that cheap - looks good though!

I know that all hoods are not created equal - some have different zips and things to stop rain pouring in when you open the door etc.

Are the Freelance Mazda ones good? Any personal experience?

I got one fitted for about £280 in Southborough, near Tunbridge Wells. Will try and find the details.....

I don't think so, he did it out of his garage not the industrial estate. I'll have to check the bills at home.

Sorry, can't find the receipt! It could be that link (and he's moved operation to a unit). I got the place originally from the MX50c which changed it's website to one so devilishly complicated that I couldn't be bothered to remain a member.

Try www.hothoodsmx5.com, they're based in Romford Essex, I had one fitted about 3 years ago to my last MX5, from memory fitting took about 1 1/2 hours.
