I have finally bitten the bullit and got my first one. I have been around MX5's for years, and done more than a few track and airfield days in Blighty and Europe as my best mate has had several Eunos's (Euni?) I have got a '93 black Eunos 1.6 for a good price with the intention of racing it in the Ma5da championship. First job is to sell the hardtop which should contribute towards the wheels and suspension cost, I am going to let my wife use it through the summer in that guise before totally converting it in the Autumn. My plan is to keep the car road legal as I am apparently light enough to do this at 75kgs. I have been doing karting and trackdays for 11 years and used to do short oval racing in my youth, so am quite excited about going racing for real again. I also havexa Yamaha R1 powered car which is eligible for the 750mc RGB Championship. However that category has become real cheque book racing with cars being commissioned at £40k, and back up and testing to match, so I am looking for something a lot more realistic. I will be asking quite a few dumb questions so please bear with me until that BIG PH sticker gets paraded around the circuits!

They were nose-to-tail at Castle Combe last year as well - great racing.

Well the car I have bought seems to drive like its 5 years old not 17! So I am under pressure from the family to have this one as a keeper! So plans are afoot to buy another 1.6 Eunos, a bit of a ropey one bodywise. Honestly the one I have seems a crime to turn it into a racer, but thats why i bought it!!

So your going to do this series :-
http://www.ma5daracing.com/index.php

Does it have a parts list like this one :-
http://www.max5racing.com/for_sale_parts.html

Just wondering about roll cages they use really, how they fit, if they are any sort of roof compatible etc I think a proper cage would be good for my track day car rather than the half cage its got at the minute, seeing to many pics of cars with flattened windscreens.

The roll cage you can only buy from a guy called Paul who specialises in MX5 racing near Oulton Park. I think they are £895+VAT from memory, but you cannot use any type of roof with them, as they go up a bit higher. I will be keeping my racer road legal so I will use the company which makes the tonneau for my kitcar to make me a tonneau for the MX5.
