When going over any form up bump (so quite often then on our roads!) i've noticed a rattling noise from the front of the car. Rather annoying after a while!

Figured out it is the bonnet, when you tap on the bonnet where the catch is, there is movement, hence the rattle. Any way of stopping this?

Adjust the catch.

Slacken the mounting bolts, then align it so that it contacts the striker on the underside of the hood and then tighten the two mounting bolts.

It'll take you 5 minutes biggrin

Yep, I went for the electrical tape option and it is better. Should save you 4 minutes..

i can't imagine saving that much time looking for tape, deciding duct tape is too thick, looking for electrical tape... cutting bits up, wrapping them round etc.

repeat a few months later, cut the old stuff off, go find the electrical tape etc. etc. etc.

adjust it, grease it, job done - for atleast another 10 years biggrin

Agh, but if you're switched on, you know to use electrical tape in the first place, and it takes a matter of seconds to snip the tape and wrap it round! And if you wrap it well enough should last 10 years....! tongue out

yes, well... look, quiet now, you're stealing my fire

mine has leccy tape wrapped round the latch, i assume it had the same issue once upon a time, except it's all sticky and greasy and torn now. going against what i just said i can't be bothered to do anything with it until it starts making noises

scratchchin

the whole bonnet does 'wobble' ever so slightly over bumps though, could this be related?

Steal away wink

I'll see how DIY-y im feeling, think i may need to top up on, erm, grease and also electrical tape, so guess i may as well do it properly! Window runners need the full on grease treatment as they are sloooooooooow, WD40 works for about 30 seconds!

And because I tend to get beaten by bolts! Two hours under the car and plenty of pentrating fluid later the transmission filler plug still wouldnt play fair.

It would have been far simpler had the last person who filled it simply put some tape over the hole biggrin
