I am currently running a mk1 1.6 eunos with an M45 JRSC and powercard.

I am now considering the next step in relation to the engine and am after some advice from those in the know.....

Should I be considering an emb as my first upgrade? I am assuming that if I want to run an intercooler or change pulley's on the s/c then I would need to sort out more refined engine management?

Not sure what emb is, but would of thought some kind of timing refinement would be your next port of call. Then possibly uprating fuel supply: bigger injectors, uprated fuel pump & regulator something like thst.

There are guys around this forum with infinately more knowledge than me though.

emb = eManage blue. It's a piggy-back ecu that controls fuelling & timing. I've had one fitted to my car for the last couple of years so yes, it would do the job just fine. In fact mine will be for sale when I finally get around to it along with a 2 bar map sensor and 320cc injectors which would be spot on for your needs. Drop me a pm if you're interested.

Unless you enjoy tinkering or have deep pockets my advice is leave it alone.

The gains are slight and the costs soon build up.

If you want significantly more power upgrade to an MP62.

If you like tinkering first steps are EMB and Wideband approx £350 used will gain a few bhp and better economy.

BUT new and fitted and tuned could easily be £750.

i think it's worth it for the control over the fuelling and timing, esp if you can get it second hand. fitting can be done yourself, as above just get some advice from nutz. it also opens up the possibility to start winding up the s/c a bit more and using bigger injectors etc.
