It has probably been asked before, but can anyone recommend a specialist garage in Sussex for servicing and tuning my MX 5 Turbo?

Also it has developed a fuelling issue when cold - it idles fine but as soon as the clutch is depressed it cuts out. After that it kangaroos up the road with very intermittent power delivery for the first few miles. After that it is fine. Any suggestions or ideas?

What model 5 is it?
NA 1.6?
Crank walk/Short nose crank?

Servicing a turbo 5 is no different to a normal 5, you just need to change the oil more frequently and use a different oil - perhaps.

Head over to mx5nutz for advice

It is a a mark 2 1998 with a new 1.8 engine fitted a few thousand miles ago, bored out to 1900cc, wiseco custom forged pistons, carrillo h beam rods, arp headstuds, toda 1.0mm steel headgasket, toda timing belt, garrett gt28r turbo, stainless manifold, dk/grex clutch , intercooler with hard pipework, lsd, ohlins coil overs, bbs alloys.

If that helps!

Mark at Freelance Mazda in Chatham is brilliant - years of experience and really knows his stuff. He's not a big fan of FI MX-5s though it has to be said, he said that people always bring them to him when they've blown up hehe.

Might be worth a call?

That would rule him out then.

You are better off with a modified car specialist than an Mazda specialist (if that is your only choice).

Modified cars are very different beasts and need very different mechanics (obviously depending what's wrong)

Horses for courses.

Obviously if you only want an oil and plug change then any garage can do that (though I'd supply the parts if I were you)

Re AFR tuning - yes I had spotted them and I am inclined to agree with the comments from only MX5ives, particularly if something unsual needs attention. There are also alot closer.

Sorry not to answer your earlier post re the ECU and wbo2 but I don't know! My defence is i am an accountant not an engineer...
