Driving me mad this one....

My car has those big metal scuff plates around the door speakers, rather than just a plain grille. They look great, but they rattle like crazy at the slightest hint of bass - it makes listening to certain Zep tunes a right chore in volume knob management... frown I've tried padding them out with some felt, and adding weight to them with that adhesive 'anti-vibe' material, but no joy. It's definitely the scuff plates as the noise goes away if I hold them steady with my hand. I think it's the plastic mount behind them that is the problem.

Any suggestions, other than buy plain door cards? frown

is there any substantial plastic behind the plates in the door you can drill and then bolt/screw?

You could try sticking something like a foam pad between the plastic and metal to push the 2 ever so slightly away from each other? I have to have a look at my door as I have to a bit of a creak since I put some new speakers in so if I come up with any ideas whilst I am there I will get back to you.

Felt from Hobbycraft and little rubber bungs from Halfords = problem almost (but not quite!) solved. I think the proper solution would be to stop trying to get the tiny door speakers to sound in any way properly bassy, and just put some decent ones in the rear deck... but that's a job for a jigsaw and another day... and to be honest I'm not that into my 'car audio' hehe
