What to buy for 3k ?

Mate of mine is fancying an MX5 and just asked me to post this.

He has about 3k to spend.

All information / advice gratefully recieved !

I recently paid half of that budget for a good condition 68k mile eunos (needs a new roof, seat bolster a bit tatty, needs cambelt done), so I'd imagine £2k should get him a very good condition mk.1, with £1k to spare for upgrades etc.

Should get a nice mk2 RS limited for that. 6 speed, air con, bilsteins and Torsen LSD.

Despite what others have said I don't think you need air con, in summer, get the top down obviously, in winter, the heater on full clears the windscreen pretty quickly anyway.

My car has air-con, but it needs re-gassed, I probably won't bother now after comfortably living without it through the bad weather of late.

I regassed mine straight away and it works a treat demisting, considerably quicker than just the normal demister. I also plan on using it loads in the summer as I dont always want to sit in traffic in the blazing heat sweating like a rapist....ice cold air for me.

Unlikely seeing as even Mk1 RS Ltd's fetch that kind of money.

RS-Ltd is a good idea though. I may be biased
