I've decided I've had enough of the tacky afterthought fog light that hangs off the rear bumper of my MX5.

Surely someone has a better solution?!?

I know a few guys who just swing them up under the bumper only bringing them down for MOT time but it's foggy quite often up here in Yorkshire and in general I'd like it to be as legal as possible.

It seems like there should be some neat aftermarket solutions but I haven't found any yet so can you guys point me in the right direction?

I liked the one below but the poster seems to have gone AWOL:

Turn your right hand (looking at rear of vehicle) reversing light into a fog light .

Yep, go with the reverse light mod, I picked up a red LED bulb from somewhere and a bit of rerouting & a scotch-loc later, all sorted.

Can I just put a red bulb in?
Is it just as easy to put in an LED?
Will an LED be brighter?

I used to have mx5 with just a red bulb for fog light in the reverse light. Passed MOT. Seemed to work fine.

led ones don't faid like the painted ones, but the reason I got them was the shop had no cheap painted bulbs LOL

You can either go with a 21w red bulb or the led equivolent(sp?) you will need to run a power supply to that bulb from a switch on the dash , easy enough to do .
