Wondering if anyone knows the answer to this.. as im looking for a Eunos

Im with adrian flux at the moment.. on some kind of high-performance car policy for when i had my MPS - being that flux are a brokers, if i phoned up to get my insurance changed to a Enuos.. are Flux able to completely change the insurance "product" for a more suitable one, or try to carry on insuring me for the rest of the term on my current policy with the new car?

One would assume that a dedicated mx5/import/limited mileage policy would be more suitable and cheaper than a general high performance policy??

Im trying to find this out, being that im only 2 months in to the current term there might be savings to make for cancelling and re-starting with a fresh policy??

Cheers

Hold up.

Matt, I don't want to be a moany bastid, but frankly, Adrian Flux were crap compared to Footman James and Sky insurance; your guys openly admitted that you don't have any underwriters who could offer competitive insurance on an import Eunos or MX5.

It was hugely annoying as I've already got two cars insured with you, and happily recommend you to everyone as AF are hugely efficient, only to be slapped in the face with a laughable quote compared to Sky insurance frown

rofl

Funny, cos they did me an absolutely spanking quote, beat everyone else to the ground.

I think mines called a 'cherished vehicles' policy, covers all my mods, its an import, unlimited mileage, etc etc.

Well, it proves my point that someone is always telling a porky somewhere.

If they could, and they didn't want my business they could have just said instead of insulting my intelligence!

Bah.

By way of an update, I just insured my Eunos with Richard Egger (Steve Hallam) today. Premium was £240 based on 3000 miles/year and a shed-load of mods to the car (engine, exhaust, rollbar, seats, harnesses, wheels, dampers). That's fully-comp, parked on the road and with no NCD

Just an update on this..

I did buy a 94 1.8 S-Special in the end..

Phoned up to get AF to get insurance sorted and its a massive £18 cheaper than the previous car (which had 3 times the power and 10 times the value) - looking at the documents it is on the same policy as an adjustment..

Ill never understand insurance!

YHM.

Like the above posted, I really don't understand it too; my 328 is insured for much much less yet is a more powerful, group 19 etc...

I did this yesterday, because my policy runs out March 1st. Turns out they don't insure anyone under 25.

Does anyone have any other recommendations?

Best quote i've had is just under £600 TPFT. I have 6 years NCB. I paid less than this to insure my Focus RS worth 10x as much with twice the power!

Might have to sell the Eunos in March at this rate because it's suddenly become a lot more expensive to run!

I'm currently 23, 24 in April and it's posing somewhat of a problem so far!

I will have 6 years NCB come march 1st!

Ive had quotes from A-F a few times on a UK mx5 and they always come out 2-3 times as much as your run of the mill insurer who advertise on the telly.

Flux were actually £15 cheaper than Richard Eggar as it turns out, but the bloke i spoke to annoyed me, he failed to call me back and also didn't tell me that there was a £15 optional charge included in his quote.

Hopefully RE will be competitive when i come to insure my track car with the in the summer as they offer track day cover as well!

I'm in the same boat, im 24 in May, insurance due at end of March, when i'll have (touch wood) 6 years no claims - got a quote a couple of months ago, £700 it was just as expensive as when i had 4 years no claims! Quote was from the same company.

I'm at a loss as to what to suggest, surely can get cheaper than that!?!? Bloody hope so.

someone will correct me, most likely if i'm wrong but i was under the impression that insurers cap 4 years as the max no claims these days so 4 years is the same discount as 15. Of course, there's young driver excess until 25 and god knows what fiddles and multipliers get added to 'young' drivers with import cars regardless as to whether it's a eunos or an r34
