What is the MOT standpoint about de-tango'd bumper reflectors? I haven't plumbed in the orange lights so am wondering if I should put the orange ones back on for the MOT...

These if anyone's not with me!

As long as you don't have red lights/reflectors at the front or blue lights/reflectors anywhere I don't think they care at all. I have had clear reflectors (not lit) for 5 years without a problem.

We don't need side relectors in the UK AFAIK or my Carina II would never have passed an MOT; think they were put there for the yanks who can't use their eyes correctly...

I've fitted red reflectors to the front (well side) of quite a few 5's and no one has ever had a problem.

I'm not saying that you won't get away with red reflectors at the front (just like I many of us get away with stick-on number plates) but you should be aware that it's illegal to have red reflectors at the front of a car.

Yes but my point was that they aren't actually on the front, they are on the side. And red side reflectors are legal (or if they aren't them the imports with the them on the side / rear are illegal too)

The law will consider them to be on the front - they are attached to the front bumper. That's why JDM cars have red rear and orange front reflectors.

Not sure about that...

If I used TSI's and made them into indicators you can bet they'd say they were on the side !

I've just noticed, i dont have any reflectors!

Saves me money on buying clear ones anyhow - put my savings towards higher insurance furious because of 'non standard' bumper and side skirts.
