Got a bit excitable on a nice big deserted roundabout the other day, and something felt funny straight after, bit like a flat tire. Got out and checked but both the tires were fine, however, when you push down on the NSR it bounces like a big jelly. Feels weird going over speedbumps too, it bounces funny on the NSR. I assume I've knackered a damper, went on to MX5 parts and they are HOW MUCH! £100 odd each for bilsteins seems like a lot, x4 is almost as much as I paid for the car!

Then this caught my eye http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info.php/product...

This is cheaper than 4x bilsteins, any good or steer clear?

Wow - if they're any good I'll be tempted by those.

These are even cheaper - http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/product_info.php/product... - but I seem to remember Konis not lasting very long.

AutolinkUK have standard front shocks for £60 - which strikes me as a bargain... http://www.autolinkmx5.com/shock-absorber-mx-5-mk1...

Never heard that, konis are the best choice IMO but I'd go for the adj ones for approx £100 more.

TBH for normal drivers on roads I'd expect there is a budget Boge or similar to be perfectly acceptable.

I had the OSR shock absorber spindle wear through on the spring mount and snap off, if you remove the cover from the fuel filler pipe in the boot and look at the top of the spring mount the nut may come off in your hand. Mine had KYB adjustables found these at about £30 cheaper than MX5 parts, Google buypartsby and click on the KYB adjustable link at the bottom left of the page. The hardest part is removing the old unit as there is no compression on the spring. You will probably need a new top mount as well, I got a secondhand one for £20 feom Autolink. If you haven't got a workshop manual there's a good link to fitting new shocks in the garage section at Miata.net.
