Heater efficiency

I know the heaters on these little cars are legendary, and I'm not entirely sure this isn't just my imagination due to the cold, but I'm not sure my heater is effective as it once was. Is this possible? If so, what can I do to rectify it?

Make sure there's water in the rad (not the exp tank)

Maybe try a rad flush.

Ensure the heater controls are working (ie the cable hasn't streched and you are getting full hot)

Make sure there aren't any leaks in the fan ducting (particularly in the passenger side footwell)

This is a great and very 'of the moment' topic. Mine used to be adequately hot and the fan seemed much more powerful than it does now. So:

1. Which cable might have stretched?
2. Any word on why the fan might be less powerful now than in years past?
