15" wheels. how much should i ask for?
Discussion
When I bought my mk1 mx5 it came with a set of unmarked 15" wheels (not mazda, but look alright).
They also came with a good amount of rubber on them.
They look better on my car than the originals, but the insurance co won't have me having anything non-standard, so on that note, would be intersted in whacking them in the classified section...but what should I ask for them?? I have absolutely no idea!! LOL
Any ideas??
Cheers

So if your wheels are damaged or in a bad state you have to pay a fortune for oem replacements or refurbish or if you buy a car with non-standard alloys you have to buy a set of oems to replace them with. That makes a lot of sense
Technically, yes.Usually, however, they will turn a blind eye to wheels that are the standard size but a different design. As mentioned previously around here mine has OEM Mk2 15"s on it; but it's a UK base-model 1.8, should have steelies.

Oh well!!
So circa £150 then?? The rubber is in pretty good condition and fairly new.

Surely they are only concerned about the cost of replacing aftermarket wheels. What if you told them they were worth nothing? If you have to replace the wheels it will probably be cheaper to shop around and find a different insurer who isn't so picky about the wheels (I'm sure most aren't interested - I know AON don't care on my insurance).
I don't think insurance is quite that black and white. Some insurance companies may deem it as a greater risk (Now whilst we all know aftermarket wheels don't do anyting to the perforamnce or make you drive like Lewis Hamilton) An insurance company make take the view that it increases the 'risk factor'? Not saying they are right, but that's insurance companies for you!! Some companies don't care, others just want to insure main stream cars/'risks' so are a bit more anal about 'mods'............
