Eunos S-Special - How much?
Discussion
Just wondering what people think would be a reasonable price to pay for Eunos S-Special 1992/3 (K Reg) 145,000km, with a hard top.
I've owned an mx5 import before but it turned out to be a lemon and I paid over the odds for it (which i've now just paid off!) and cant help but want another one - think i caught the bug!
Would insurnace be any different to a non S-Special? Im 23, with 5 years no claims.
Ta in advance, Phil

I bought a 93/K S-Special 1.6 in September. 105k km on the clock, paid £1450 for it; no hard top, and the seller wasn't aware of Pheads so I think may have underpriced it a little.
As for insurance, Admiral didn't care that it was an S-Special, just have it down as an imported 1.6 Eunos Roadster. Not sure if other insurers may list it specifically.

I brought a really nice S Special I paid £3,395 for it which is over the odds but I got a warranty and they took my car in for a part exchange (which I was finding hard to sell).
I had no problems with insurance either they also just treated it as an import. Adrian Flux were very competitive for me so I would give them a try (you also get a discount for being a PHer - but mention this after quote )

There wouldn't be to much variation between the 2 with the companies that we use.I've owned an mx5 import before but it turned out to be a lemon and I paid over the odds for it (which i've now just paid off!) and cant help but want another one - think i caught the bug!

S-Special or S-Limited? That sounds ludicrous money for an S-Special.I had no problems with insurance either they also just treated it as an import. Adrian Flux were very competitive for me so I would give them a try (you also get a discount for being a PHer - but mention this after quote )
Thanks for the responses.
Im not sure if I can make this work, i have another car which i need to keep for the time being for family reasons, and its using my ncb til end of march, and i dont want/couldn't bare to have the mx5 standing for 4 months, though i've just thought of somewhere i can store it (moment of inspiration!).
Still tempted however as it seems a decent price, so Matt i'll send you a few details for insurance, just to give me an idea of what im looking at.
Cheers

I've been to see it, the hard top is very flaky in places, not in good nick really. rest of the car is tidy, engine pulls well, brakes seemed fine. soft top may have a small crack in the screen, havent seen it up. fog light didnt work, steering maybe slightly to left...
Need to see it in the daylight really. i'd rather buy one which doesnt need much work, but then these all seem minor things, mechanically good, bodywork good, no rust, no dints or scrapes, just the lip on the front bumper needs a respray.
Decisions Decisions...

Hardtops of ten are a bit flaky and badly finished.
Ifyou can buy one with the car its great - it shouldnt really have too much of an affect on the asking price.
Buy the car, sell the hardtop (easy to sell at this time of year) and make 2-300 pounds back instantly.
Dont buy any car though without checking the softop goes up and is in good nick though.
