Hi

Wondering if someone can give me a quick solution to a problem on my 1.6 Eunos (1991)?

This morning I drove with the headlights on to work. When I stopped the car and switch the headlights off and ignition off, the lights continually move up and down.
Is there an earthing problem? Or a relay problem?

For the time being I have taken the fuse out of the headlight mechanism to avoid the battery going flat.

Any help appreciated....

Mike

do they stay up if you use the 'service' button on the centre of the dash?
Could be a temporary way to save your battery.

sounds like an Italian electric gremlin has taken up residence. a short due to wet weather ingress I guess.

With the ignition off, the service buttopn does not work and the lights just keep going up and down. Frustrating.

Have ordered two replacement relays (L12 and the other). Will report back to say which one worked (if any??)

The Italian comment made me laugh because I also have an Alfa 156 - and to be honest I have had many more problems with the mx5. (headlight retracting, bulb/ headlight replacement, new headrest speakers, new electric window cables, new gearbox gaskets and oil for turret, tyre valve breaking thus flat tyre, all in four months of ownership!!)

Thanks

Mike

Crikey Mike, you've been unlucky!

I've had one of our MX-5s for 7 years, and only had one rear brake caliper!

Odd problem though, and it does sound like a relay, so fingers crossed....

Almost forgot that I have also replaced the clutch slave cylinder and when I first bought the car the front offside indicator was cracked and needed replacing! lol

Still love the car because I do enjoy tinkering and putting things right.

Luckily I only live 15 minutes walk to work so if something does go wrong it is not catastrophic. mx5parts love me!
