Hi all,

My MX5 doesn't have any rust on the bodywork, but there's the usual surface rust (and not a huge amount) on the components on the underside. Is it worth having these treated in some way? What about the rest of the underbody/sills etc? There's no rust on the sills/lips except for a tiny bit at the end of the 'lip' of the sill at the back - which doesn't seem to be growing.

Just trying to think ahead and how to protect the body as best as possible.

Cheers,
Howard.

I had just a few spots on the underneath where the underseal wasn't complete, and just a little surface rust.

Got a wire brush and rubbed the worst off, then anti rust primer, chassis paint and finally a coat of waxoyl, Just to make sure the underside is protected. Still looks ok 6 months on...

My car is beginning to look a little worse for wear around the rear arches... I'm going to take it to a bodyshop and get a quote for repair and also to get it waxoyled and undersealed. I'll post up the quote once i'm done.
