my mum had her window fixed... i think it was the wire attached to the motor but you have to order the whole part i gather on the mk2

i know the part is about 70 or 80 quid

main dealer quoted her 180 for everyhting but she went to a local garage as it was a lot easier geing back home. they quoted her 200

but the bill was 260 !

she didnt contest it but im wondering how the hell a small indy garage (who shouldnt be charging any more than about 50 p/h) can come out way more expensive than main dealer !

does anyone know how long it takes to remove the door skin and fix one of these things ? an hour max i would have said so that makes this small garages labour rate 180 quid per hour ! It does strike me as a job that can vary in time.. its a simple fix, surely it has a very set labour time allocation ?

appreciate any help on this... my mum is thinking of trying to recall the payment with her CC company

the only things i can think of is that,

A) they stacked their margin on top of the part they had to buy.

and

B) They don't have a good as working knowledge of the car, and thusly took longer to do it.

The part is about £75. £185 labour is a ridiculous amount!!! I'd go back and question why they charged so much!!!!!!!!!!!
