Afternoon all,

Mrs Hammerhead's roof seems to leak a bit under braking (only on driver's side), where water seems to overflow from the little trough thingy above the quarter light window. Having had her car serviced by Mazda Bath yesterday, they've suggested fitting two new hood latches at £80 each plus fitting & vat. Is that likely to cure the problem or is a new roof a better bet?

If the latter, any recommendations for a hood supplier/fitter in or around the Bath area? Would be for a Mk2.

Ta very much.

New hood latches? I've never heard of that as a cure before! The latches are easy to adjust if they aren't tight enough - just open the latch half-way, pop off the black plastic cover (it hinges off) and adjust the 10mm adjuster nut in the middle.

It's more likely that either the window seals have shrunk or the hood itself has shrunk. Others here can advice on how to adjust the seals.

Have you made sure the drains are clear - the ones that go from the cups at the top of the windscreen surround down inside the door-seal to the bottom of the door opening?

Thanks, Lazza. I'll have a look at the latches/front drain holes as you suggest smile

Latch replacement did sound a bit odd I thought.. hmm.

I had this very problem, it was caused by the roof shrinking and cracking around the side edges. A new roof (£260 fitted) from Jack Smith trimmers in Swansea cured it completely.

I did the same as Phil and it cured the problem. It was the hood that had shrunk.
